Here are the eggs for today. I guess that we've missed getting the eggs for a few days now. Papa went out to get the eggs today and about two hours ago there were only seven of them (six brown and one white) and now there were three more eggs (two brown and one white). Those last three would be today's eggs. Looks like we haven't went out and gotten them since Thursday...whooops!
Potatoes, potatoes, and more potatoes. We are going to be some happy folk when it comes time to harvest these taters. Take a look at the variety that we're planting out today. This years potatoes were planted today, Sunday, March 20, 2011.
We're getting the garden ready for our Spring/Summer 2011 Garden. In the meantime, I went ahead and moved all of the bricks and plastic. And this is what it looks like today (Sunday, March 20, 2011).
Papa's getting ready to plant our potatoes today but before he did I wanted
to grab a picture of all the amazing varieties we've got going in. As you can see (above) we've got some blue (or purple) and russet potatoes. These that you see down below are actual "seed" potatoes.
Then we also have the (yummy, buttery, great-for-roasting) fingerling potatoes
(Can you tell that I like fingerling potatoes :-)
And those to come in a few different types.
In this large bag there's a mix, some yukon gold, some fingerling, some blue & russet.
I think that it's obvious to say that these are going to make one "delicious" crop!
Today's Date: March 15, 2011. As you can see Papa is in the process of transplanting the seedlings for all of the peppers and tomatoes to their own individual pots. He's got one down and about seven more to go. This is good because I don't remember this stage in the process this time last year for Garden 2010, so this is really cool
It's that time again...and Spring is Here! How exciting :-) I love the blooms. I love the spring (and fall) colors...everything is in it's season. The flowers are blooming....
The trees are budding....
Even our pear and apple trees are starting to bloom...
Here are some pictures of our pear trees planted towards the end of last fall (Nov 2010) and now that it's spring, I wanted to take a look and see how the springs treating them?
Most of them already have beautiful spring buds on them although it will be a while until they're actually full grown.
Our italian horn peppers are starting to sprout! If you look closely in the back left, you can see them starting to come up. This picture was taken March 11, 2011, which for them is Day 11.
Our tomato plants are doing nicely as well. They're also on Day 11 since they were first planted. We give both the peppers and the tomatoes a misting several times per day. In the evening we move them all from the window sill to the fridge to keep them warm.
Here are our tomato plants (from left to right (front row): hybrid tomatoes, roma, ladybug, and marmande. (The back row are the peppers).
