The italian horn peppers are sprouting!

10:46 AM
Our italian horn peppers are starting to sprout!  If you look closely in the back left, you can see them starting to come up. This picture was taken March 11, 2011, which for them is Day 11.
Our tomato plants are doing nicely as well. They're also on Day 11 since they were first planted. We give both the peppers and the tomatoes a misting several times per day.  In the evening we move them all from the window sill to the fridge to keep them warm.

Here are our tomato plants (from left to right (front row): hybrid tomatoes, roma, ladybug, and marmande. (The back row are the peppers).

Gardening 2011: Planting the Onions

10:07 AM
So they call these red 'candy apple' and 'candy' (yellow) onions.  They call them "candy" because they're so sweet.  This year we're getting them in nice and early.  (Last year we didn't plant our onions till around early April).  We got them from here.

But as you can see, these are in, just planted yesterday (February 21st).  I'd say Papa did a pretty good job with these onions.  Wouldn't you?

Here's a picture of our other onions...the ones that we planted back in the early fall in our "Crop Circles" ;-)
Not so bad, ey?

Papa planted our Holly Bushes!

7:00 PM

Today Papa planted our holly bushes and some of our bearded iris'.  We've got about 16 brand new holly bushes now in the ground.

Lookin' good!  Here's the finished product:
And while he was at it, he also put our drainage hose into the ground.

Storing Until Planting

2:49 PM
It's farmer's orders (actually the instructions before planting the onions).  These guys need to be stored in a cool, dry place so that they don't mold, heat up or get moisture to them before going into the ground. So, here they are and here they'll be for the next few days.
